National Junior Chess Champion, Haruna Nsubuga beat Rajab Kamoga in the fourth round of the Olympiad Qualifiers (Second phase) to lead by a full point with 4 points out of 4 games played at Pope Paul Memorial Hotel in Rubaga. Four more games are to be played in the qualifiers to continue on 8th and 10th March 2012 at the same venue. In other fourth round games, Olympian Shadrack Kantinti recovered from an early upset to beat Farouk Fauza and get to 3 points, Vianney Luggya beat Micheal Mawanda, Harold Wanyama beat fellow Olympian Kenneth Kakooza, Stephen Kisuze beat Joe Kaamu as Mathias Ssonko beat Frobisha Katula. After the second phase the top 8 players will be picked to join FIDE Masters Elijah Emojong and Moses Kawuma and Candidate Masters Bob Bibasa and Patrick Kawuma in the last phase to feature a round robin of the top 12 from which four will be picked to join National Champ, Arthur Ssegwanyi on Uganda's team. The team will represent the country at the 40th World Chess Olympiad to be held in Istambul, Turkey. The ladies are not playing in this phase.
